At Athena Research Consultants, our name and logo are inspired by Athena, the Greek goddess of wisdom, strategy, and the arts. Known as a protector of cities and a patron of craftsmen, architects, and thinkers, Athena represents the ideals at the heart of our work: knowledge, preservation, and cultural legacy.
In Greek mythology, Athena was not only a warrior but a guide. She was a champion of reason, creative expression, and civic life. Her spirit lives on in our mission to safeguard history through careful research and sustainable preservation practices. Whether we’re documenting a historic neighborhood, developing a public exhibit, or advocating for heritage sites, we draw from Athena’s blend of intellect and artistry.
Founded in 1996 and relaunched with fresh energy in 2023, ARC is a certified woman-owned small business based in southeast Michigan. With nearly 30 years of experience, we support clients in making history accessible, impactful, and sustainable.
I study the past to help communities understand where they’ve been and where they’re headed. As a qualified professional historian (36 CFR Part 61) with more than 25 years of experience, I’ve helped communities and clients uncover their history, advocate for meaningful preservation, and connect with the people and places that shaped them. As a certified sustainable preservationist (Cornell University, 2023), I’m passionate about blending historic integrity and heritage stewardship with environmental awareness.
I’m particularly drawn to research that sheds light on overlooked stories or uncovers new angles on familiar topics because that’s where connection and curiosity thrive and it’s what adds layers to our understanding of a place or moment in time. I’ve published, lectured, curated, and collaborated with cultural institutions across Michigan ensuring history has a voice and local history remains alive and thriving.
At ARC, I lead preservation and research projects that honor cultural heritage and elevate its role in contemporary planning and development. I dig deep into the past — not just for facts, but for the stories that reveal who we are, where we come from, and what’s worth preserving for the future.
I’m also a community advocate who supports inclusive, community-driven preservation of historical sites that tell a deeper story and remind us why place matters. History should be compelling, accessible, and actionable.
I combine academic rigor with public relevance. My background includes leadership roles with cultural nonprofits, PR and editorial work for major institutions, and a passion for accessible history that inspires action.
At ARC, we’re here to help you tell the stories that deserve to be told with care, clarity, and purpose.
