Our History
Athena Research Consultants LLC (ARC) is a Michigan corporation founded in 1996 (relaunched as an LLC in 2023). We are located in southeastern Michigan. ARC is a certified Woman-Owned Small Business (WOSB) and is, and has always been, a family business.
We specialize in historic preservation consulting and historical research, as well as public outreach and education about history and preservation through lectures, workshops, publications, and digital marketing for clients in the arts and humanities fields. Each client and project are evaluated and matched with a consultant team selected to meet their unique needs. Trust and collaboration create strong relationships with our clients and partners. We are trusted, responsive, and dependable.
I am a public historian and a qualified professional historian (36 CFR Part 61) with over 25 years of experience in historic preservation, history education, research, and writing. Currently, I serve on the board of directors for the Michigan Historic Preservation Network and am president of the Rochester-Avon Historical Society.

Our Pledge
John Dziurman AIA, NCARB, was an architect, modern designer, and historic preservationist throughout his 60-year career. His award-winning work in historic preservation and community advocacy was inspiring and helped educate the public about the importance of architectural history and local preservation. He was also my dad and colleague. He passed away in 2023 from complications due to Frontotemporal Degeneration (FTD).
Athena Research Consultants is committed to giving back and donates up to 5% of project profits annually to The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration (AFTD) to support research and find a cure.
