Founded in 1996 (and relaunched as an LLC in 2023), Athena Research Consultants (ARC) is a certified Woman-Owned Small Business in southeastern Michigan. Our specialization lies in historic preservation consulting, historical research, and engaging with history through public outreach and education.
OUR TEAM
Our team has unique skills in historic preservation, historical research, public outreach, law, real estate, marketing, branding, and more. Additionally, ARC has a consortium of consultants in a variety of fields who are carefully selected for each project.
OUR FOCUS
We collaborate with diverse clients, including architects, archaeologists, educators, and municipalities to champion historic preservation efforts. Through research and writing, we connect people to their heritage, promoting national, state, and local history. With over 25 years of experience, we excel in Section 106 reviews, register nominations, architectural inventories, building surveys, and more. We stay within proposed fees and allocated hours. Meeting deadlines and delivering quality work are our priorities.
OUR APPROACH
Integrity, respect, and professionalism are the cornerstones of what we do. We strive to exceed our clients’ expectations. By building strong relationships with our clients and partners, we foster an environment of trust and collaboration.
In Greek lore, Athena was the protector of the city and known for her wisdom, civility, and skill. She was also the goddess of crafts, a patron of art along with a variety of local traditions tied to arts and crafts. Our logo was designed in 1996 and is a testament to our vision and work ethic.
John Dziurman AIA, NCARB, was an architect, modern designer, and historic preservationist throughout his 60-year career. His award-winning work in historic preservation and community advocacy was inspiring and helped educate the public about the importance of architectural history and local preservation. He was also my dad and colleague.
My dad's career also included achievements in modern design, sustainable architecture, and more. He passed away in 2023 from complications due to Frontotemporal Degeneration (FTD).
Athena Research Consultants is committed to giving back and pledges to donate up to 5% of project profits to The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration (AFTD) to support research and find a cure. ~ Tiffany Dziurman
